Foldsplat: squash bugs by slamming your iPhone Duo shut

The phone is the swatter: wait for the bugs to gather, then close it.

Prague, Czech Republic, October 30, 2026 — Foldsplat, a new over-the-top arcade
game from Czech indie developer Jan Poncik, is out today on the App Store. It is
built for the iPhone Duo: ants, roaches, beetles and spiders crawl across the
open display while flies and mosquitoes buzz above. Players wait until as many
bugs as possible gather, then slam the phone shut. Everything between the
halves gets squashed. The cover display instantly shows an "x-ray" of the
splats, and opening the phone reveals the full mess.

Traps hide among the bugs, though – boots and anvils. Slam one and the glass
cracks and you lose a life.

Foldsplat is one of the first games where closing a foldable iPhone is the
controller itself. On a regular iPhone you play by slapping the screen – a
finger hits a single bug, a palm squashes the whole area (the accelerometer
detects the slap).

"A foldable phone is basically a fly swatter. I wanted the most natural thing
you do with the Duo – closing it – to be the most fun move in the game," says
developer Jan Poncik.
